White County Board of Commissioners Chairman Travis Turner has been selected to serve in two key statewide leadership roles with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), further strengthening White County’s voice at the state level.
Turner will serve as the District 2 Representative on the 2026–2027 ACCG Board of Managers and as a member of the ACCG Executive Committee. He was recently sworn in by State Representative Chas Cannon during the Installation and Awards Luncheon at the ACCG Annual Conference held in Chatham County.
The ACCG Board of Managers provides leadership and direction for the statewide organization, which represents all 159 counties in Georgia. The Executive Committee plays a vital role in guiding the association’s priorities and supporting its work on behalf of county governments across the state.
“We are excited to welcome our newly installed Board of Managers, a group of leaders passionate about public service and chosen by their peers to guide the association,” said ACCG Executive Director Dave Wills. “Their dedication and expertise will be essential as we work together to enhance the well-being of Georgia’s counties.”
Turner’s appointment to both leadership positions ensures that White County will have a direct voice in discussions impacting county operations, public services, and legislative priorities.
“This opportunity is about service — service to White County, service to our region, and service to county government across Georgia,” Turner said. “I am grateful for the trust placed in me and look forward to working alongside other county leaders to strengthen the work we do for the citizens we serve.”
A lifelong resident of White County, Turner has served as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners since 2009. His leadership has focused on maintaining the county’s financial stability, minimizing debt, and supporting responsible growth while preserving strong public services.
Before entering public service, Turner spent 17 years in the financial industry, where he served as a Senior Vice President and Senior Lender. He later played a key role in reorganizing his family’s lumber company prior to its sale.
Turner’s public service extends beyond White County. He has served on the State and Local Workforce Investment Board, as Vice-Chair of the ACCG Workers’ Compensation Board of Trustees, and was appointed to the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority by Governor Nathan Deal. He also represents White County on the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission.
Most recently, Turner served as Chairperson of ACCG’s General County Government Policy Committee for 2024–2025.
Founded in 1914, ACCG works on behalf of county officials and their communities by providing legislative advocacy, leadership development, and programs designed to support local governments across Georgia.
