Two Toccoa men face charges following a March 10 shooting on Wood Street that authorities believe may be connected to gang activity.
The arrests came after a multi-agency investigation involving search warrants and evidence collection tied to the incident, according to the Toccoa Police Department.
Zachary Mulwee, 22, of Toccoa, was taken into custody during the investigation and charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule III controlled substance. Police said additional gang-related charges are expected. Investigators allege Mulwee has ties to a Sex Money Murder subset of the Bloods.
Police say a second suspect, Hayden Setren, 19, also of Toccoa, turned himself in on March 23 at the Stephens County Jail. He has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the alleged shooting.
A shooting reported on Wood Street earlier this month prompted the initial investigation, according to authorities, with the primary focus being the identification of those involved in the incident and the confiscation of illegal firearms and drugs.
Toccoa Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said the department will continue to target violent crime and gang activity within the city.
“This type of violent, gang-related activity has no place in our community,” he said. “Our investigators worked tirelessly to identify those involved and take swift action. We will continue to pursue individuals who engage in this kind of behavior and hold them accountable. Let this serve as a warning: If you bring violence into our city, we will respond with strong enforcement and continued pressure.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Toccoa Police Department.
