A Toccoa man has been arrested after what authorities describe as a swift and intensive investigation into a reported sexual assault involving a minor.
The case began on Wednesday, March 25, according to officials, when the incident was reported to the Toccoa Police Department. Investigators then launched a full-scale inquiry to gather evidence.
Police obtained warrants for Anthony David Shedd, 28, of Toccoa, before officers with the department’s Special Operations Unit executed a search of Shedd’s residence. The operation was completed without incident, authorities say, and Shedd was taken into custody.
During the search, investigators allegedly recovered additional evidence believed to be connected to the case. Shedd now faces charges of aggravated child molestation and other related sexual assault charges, according to police.
“These cases are deeply concerning and demand immediate and thorough action,” Toccoa Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said.
“Our investigators worked relentlessly to build this case and ensure this individual was taken off the streets. Protecting children and holding offenders accountable will always remain a top priority for this department.”
Officials say the investigation remains part of the department’s broader commitment to pursuing justice in cases involving vulnerable victims.
