A cherished holiday tradition will return to Piedmont University next month as the university presents its 38th annual Lessons and Carols on Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5.

Both performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Piedmont University Chapel in Demorest.

The annual event brings together musicians, students, and community members for an evening of Christmas music, traditional carols, and scripture readings celebrating the holiday season.

This year's program will be directed by Bobby Ivey, Piedmont University's Assistant Professor and Director of Choirs.

Performances will feature the Piedmont Chorale, Brass Choir, and the Sewell Organ, along with the Habersham Singers from Habersham Central High School, under the direction of Lindsay Murray.

Musical selections will include Festival First Nowell by Dan Forrest and Gloria by Randol Alan Bass.

Audience members will also have opportunities to participate in the program by singing familiar Christmas carols accompanied by organ and brass instruments.

One of the evening's traditional highlights will be the candlelight singing of Silent Night, a longstanding part of the annual celebration.

Now in its 38th year, Lessons and Carols has become a holiday tradition for Piedmont University and the surrounding Northeast Georgia community.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and children. Proceeds from ticket sales support Piedmont University's music students and help fund future musical performances.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.piedmont.edu/ticket at the box office on the day of the performance.

The Piedmont University Chapel is located at 992 Central Avenue in Demorest.
