A fire caused significant damage to Wolf Creek BBQ in Clarkesville early Monday morning, with the cause of the blaze now under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Clarkesville Fire Department Chief Jason Poole said firefighters were dispatched at approximately 4:45 a.m. to Wolf Creek BBQ, located at 184 Clarkesville Station.

Clarkesville firefighters responded alongside Habersham County Emergency Services Station 9.

When crews arrived, fire was visible coming from the roof at the rear of the building, according to Poole.

Firefighters entered the structure and encountered heavy fire and smoke damage inside, although no active flames were visible in the interior at that time. Crews quickly extinguished the fire on the roof before conducting an overhaul of the building and extinguishing remaining hot spots.

Smoke from the fire also spread into all units of the strip mall. Firefighters opened the affected units and cleared the smoke before leaving the scene.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to assist in determining what caused the fire.

Poole said the cause remained under investigation at the time the Clarkesville Fire Department released its report.

No injuries were reported in the department’s release.
