Residents will have the opportunity to learn more about local services and connect directly with county departments during the upcoming “Meet Your Government” event.
The event will be held Thursday, February 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Habersham County Aquatic Center. It is free and open to the public.
County officials say the goal of the event is simple — help citizens better understand what their local government does and how each department serves the community.
Attendees will be able to visit informational booths and speak one-on-one with representatives from a wide variety of departments, including:
Animal Control
County Clerk
Elections
E-911
Emergency Services
Environmental Health
Facilities
Finance
Human Resources
Landfill
Parks & Recreation
Planning & Development
Public Works
Sheriff’s Office
Senior Center
Tax Assessor
Tax Commissioner
A welcome table will be located at the front entrance, and visitors can also take advantage of a car seat safety check during the event.
Organizers say the event is designed to be family-friendly, and snacks and refreshments will be provided, along with door prizes.
County leaders hope the open-house style event will encourage residents to ask questions, learn about available services, and better understand how county departments work together to serve Habersham County.
