Authorities are actively searching for a man accused of assaulting someone inside a home Thursday morning in the Mud Creek Road area, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. Thursday, March 12, at a residence in the 3800 block of Mud Creek Road. The suspect reportedly fled the home on foot, prompting a manhunt involving multiple law enforcement units.
The suspect is described as a white male with a beard who may be wearing a white scarf or bandana covering part of his face.
Personnel from the sheriff’s office’s Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division, and K9 Unit are actively searching the area and are being assisted by other agencies.
Authorities said K9 teams are currently tracking the suspect.
Officials say weather conditions have improved throughout the morning, allowing additional resources to be requested to aid in the search.
Investigators believe the suspect may still be in the area and say they are using all available resources in an effort to locate him.
Residents in the Mud Creek community are urged to keep the doors to their homes, vehicles, and outbuildings locked and to report any suspicious activity to 911.
