Habersham County officials are inviting property owners and residents to attend an upcoming open house to learn more about the county's proposed Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) and review potential zoning map changes that could affect their property.
The open house will be held Thursday, June 11, in the Second Floor Conference Room of the Habersham County Administration Building, located at 130 Jacobs Way in Clarkesville.
To accommodate a variety of schedules, residents may attend at any time during two open-house sessions: from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
County officials emphasize that the event is not a formal public hearing. Instead, it is designed as a drop-in opportunity for residents to review information at their own pace and speak directly with members of the Planning Commission.
Attendees will have the opportunity to review current and proposed zoning designations for their property, learn how the proposed Unified Development Ordinance could affect future land use and development, ask questions about the ordinance, and discuss concerns one-on-one with Planning Commission representatives.
The Unified Development Ordinance is intended to guide future growth and development throughout Habersham County. Because the proposal includes mapping changes and development standards that could impact individual properties, county leaders are encouraging residents to become informed before any final decisions are made.
No formal presentation is planned, allowing participants to come and go as their schedules permit. Planning officials will be available throughout both sessions to answer questions and provide information regarding the proposed ordinance and zoning maps.
County officials encourage all interested property owners, residents, and stakeholders to attend and take advantage of the opportunity to better understand the proposed changes.
Additional information regarding the proposed Unified Development Ordinance is available through the Habersham County Planning and Development Department and on the county's UDO information page.
