The Habersham County Board of Commissioners will hold a Special Called Meeting on Monday, June 29, at 6:00 p.m. at the Habersham County Courthouse Jury Assembly Room, 295 Llewellyn Street in Clarkesville, with several important financial matters on the agenda.

The meeting will center on the county's proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget, the 2026 property tax millage rate, and several resolutions that will establish county fees and finalize budget adjustments.

Budget Hearing Scheduled

Commissioners will conduct the second and final public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget before considering its adoption.

The hearing provides residents with one final opportunity to comment on the county's spending plan before commissioners vote on the budget that will guide county operations during the coming fiscal year.

Property Tax Millage Rate Up for Consideration

Another item expected to draw public attention is a public hearing on the county's 2026 property tax millage rate.

Following the hearing, commissioners are scheduled to consider adopting the annual tax levy and authorizing the required state documentation. The millage rate determines how property taxes are calculated and helps fund many county services, including public safety, roads, and other government operations.

County Fee Schedule and Budget Amendments

Under new business, the Board will consider adopting the county's Fiscal Year 2027 Fee Schedule, which establishes fees for a variety of county services.

Commissioners are also expected to review and consider amendments to the current Fiscal Year 2026 budget before the new budget year begins.

Public Encouraged to Attend

Residents are invited to attend the meeting and participate in the public hearing process. Individuals wishing to speak during one of the advertised public hearings will be given up to three minutes to address the Board of Commissioners.

County officials encourage citizens to stay informed and take part in the decisions that shape Habersham County's future. Public meetings provide an opportunity for residents to learn how county funds are allocated, understand proposed tax rates, and offer feedback before final decisions are made.

The Habersham County Board of Commissioners Special Called Meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, in the Jury Assembly Room of the Habersham County Courthouse.
