Danny McClellon officially took office Wednesday morning as Habersham County's District 3 Commissioner following his victory in the recent special election.
McClellon was sworn in on June 3 at 10:00 a.m. during a ceremony held at the Habersham County Courthouse Probate Judge's Office on Llewellyn Street in Clarkesville. Probate Judge Pam Wooley administered the oath of office.
The special election was held to fill the remainder of the District 3 term, and McClellon will serve in that capacity through the end of 2026.
Barring any unforeseen developments, McClellon is also expected to continue serving beyond that date. No Democratic candidate qualified to run for the District 3 seat, leaving McClellon unopposed in the November General Election. As a result, he is positioned to begin a full four-year term in January 2027.

The swearing-in marks the beginning of McClellon's service on the Habersham County Board of Commissioners, where he will represent residents of District 3 and participate in decisions affecting county government, public services, infrastructure, budgeting, and future growth.
Family members, county officials, and supporters attended the ceremony as McClellon took the oath and formally assumed the responsibilities of office.
With the special election now complete and no opposition awaiting him in November, McClellon will have the opportunity to focus on serving constituents and preparing for what appears to be a full term beginning in 2027.
The Habersham County Board of Commissioners is responsible for overseeing county operations and services, including public safety, roads and infrastructure, planning and development, and fiscal management throughout Habersham County.
