Community Invited to Retirement Reception Honoring HCSO K9 Roxy

After more than eight years of service, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office K9 Roxy is getting a well-earned retirement—and the community is invited to help celebrate her.

A drop-in retirement reception honoring the Explosives Ordnance Detection K9 (E.O.D.) will be held Thursday, August 27, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the Jury Assembly Room/County Commission Meeting Room at the Habersham County Courthouse in Clarkesville.

Roxy has served with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office since January 17, 2018, working alongside her partner, Lt. Eugene Kemp.

During their years together, Roxy and Kemp have participated in an impressive 1,600 deployments. Their work has included searches of 37,598 environments, 19,991 rooms, 7,832 vehicles, 2,955 lockers, 4,214 pieces of luggage and 939 parcels and other items.

The team has assisted 25 agencies during Roxy’s career and located two firearms.

Community members are encouraged to stop by the reception to meet Roxy and recognize her years of service. Those attending will also receive a special K9 Roxy trading card as a keepsake.

Roxy’s final day as an active K9 with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office will be August 31, 2026.
