Banks County Sheriff’s Office Warns Residents of Door-to-Door Scam

The Banks County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to remain alert after receiving reports of individuals going door-to-door claiming to sell services or represent companies, some of which may not be legitimate.

According to officials, these individuals have approached homes offering services such as pest control and other home-related work. Authorities caution that not all of these solicitors are properly licensed or authorized, raising concerns about potential scams targeting local residents.

Law enforcement advises that if someone comes to your door and you feel unsure, do not engage. Residents are encouraged to call 911 so deputies can respond, identify the individuals, and verify whether they have the proper permits required to solicit in Banks County.

The Sheriff’s Office also recommends always asking for identification and never feeling pressured to make an immediate purchase. Residents should avoid signing any documents—whether paper or electronic—without fully understanding them, as signatures can be legally binding.

Officials note that door-to-door scams often involve high-pressure tactics and requests for quick payment, which are common warning signs of fraudulent activity.

The Banks County Sheriff’s Office encourages the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help keep neighborhoods safe.
