White County to Recognize 911 Dispatchers During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

White County will soon be joining communities across the nation in recognizing the dedicated professionals who serve as the first voice people hear during emergencies. National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week will be observed April 12–18, 2026, honoring the county’s 911 dispatchers and their critical role in public safety.

Often referred to as the “first first responders,” 911 dispatchers work behind the scenes to ensure that help reaches those in need as quickly as possible. These highly trained professionals answer emergency calls, gather vital information, and coordinate responses with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services.

Every call they receive can involve a life-threatening situation, and dispatchers must remain calm under pressure while guiding callers through difficult and often frightening moments.

During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, White County plans to recognize the dedication and professionalism of its dispatchers while encouraging the community to show appreciation for their service.

Officials say the week will provide opportunities for residents to help express their gratitude to the individuals who work around the clock to keep the community safe.

Community members are encouraged to begin thinking about ways they might like to thank the dispatchers who serve White County. Additional details about appreciation events and activities are expected to be announced soon.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is observed each April across the United States and highlights the critical role dispatchers play in emergency response. While they may not always be seen, their work is vital to the safety of the community.

White County officials say the upcoming week will be a time to recognize the skill, dedication, and compassion of the men and women who answer the call when help is needed most.

More information about local appreciation efforts is expected to be released in the coming days.
