A traffic stop in White County led to the arrests of two people and the seizure of large amounts of illegal drugs earlier this week.
Police say deputies with the White County Sheriff’s Office conducted concentrated patrols along Hwy. 75 South near the Donald Alexander area on Monday, Feb. 9, leading to the traffic stop and subsequent drug arrests.
According to authorities, the stop was initiated for a traffic violation before deputies allegedly discovered 1.5 ounces of marijuana, eight grams of psilocybin mushrooms and several oxycodone pills inside the vehicle.
The traffic stop prompted investigators to obtain a search warrant for a Cleveland residence, where law enforcement officials allegedly found other narcotics, including about seven ounces of marijuana, 77 oxycodone pills, 35 tramadol pills and 27 MDMA tablets.
Authorities have since arrested Greylin D. Cheek, 38, of Cleveland, who was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute, possession of tramadol with intent to distribute, possession of psilocybin mushrooms with intent to distribute, possession of MDMA with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects.
Elizabeth T. Smith, 37, of Cleveland, was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute, possession of tramadol with intent to distribute, possession of MDMA with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects.
