Law enforcement and correctional professionals from across Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida gathered in Clarkesville last week to participate in the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute.
The four-and-a-half-day training seminar is designed specifically for supervisors and middle managers and focuses on strengthening leadership skills within public safety agencies.
The program follows the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association’s “Cops Teaching Cops” model of professional development, providing an interactive learning environment led by experienced law enforcement instructors.
Although the course is aimed primarily at first-line supervisors, it is open to all police leaders, including both sworn officers and civilian personnel.
Participants received instruction on a variety of leadership and management topics, including supervisory leadership, building credibility and authenticity, law enforcement liability, officer discipline, DISC behavior and leadership styles, and leading multiple generations within the workforce.
A total of 29 participants completed the training and graduated from the program.
Habersham County Sheriff Robin Krockum and class host Captain Josh Ivey expressed appreciation to Habersham Electric Membership Corporation for providing the facility used to host the training.
Officials say the leadership institute helps equip public safety supervisors with the tools needed to better serve their agencies and communities.
