Piedmont University Camerata to Open Conservatory of Music Season

Classical music will fill the Piedmont University Chapel later this month as the university's Conservatory of Music begins its new season with a free community concert.

The Piedmont University Camerata, the university's resident ensemble, will perform Sunday, August 30, at 3 p.m. at the Piedmont University Chapel in Demorest.

The concert will feature Piedmont University's Artists-in-Residence Heather Baird-Strachan and Rachael Fischer on violin, Scott Garrett on viola, Ismail Akbar on cello and Jeri-Mae G. Astolfi on piano.

The afternoon program will showcase chamber music works by Tommaso Giordani, Germaine Tailleferre and Robert Schumann.

Bob Glass, Piedmont University's Dean of Libraries and University Librarian, will serve as concert host and narrate program notes throughout the performance, providing additional background and context for the music.

The concert is free and open to the community. Donations benefiting Piedmont University's music program will be accepted at the door.

The Piedmont University Chapel is located at 992 Central Avenue in Demorest.
