Pink will fill the stands at Raider Stadium Sunday evening, August 23, as family, friends, teammates and members of the Habersham County community come together to remember the life of 15-year-old Yaretzi Adelaida Romero Cantu Torres.

A Celebration of Life for the Habersham Central High School sophomore and varsity soccer player will begin at 6 p.m. Yaretzi's family is asking those attending to wear pink in her honor.

Yaretzi, of Cornelia, passed away Thursday, August 13.

She was a member of Habersham Central's Class of 2029 and had already made an impression on many of the people around her. Family and friends describe a teenager filled with personality—a young woman who loved to laugh and dance, wasn't afraid to be herself and seemed to bring energy wherever she went.

She also had a heart for other people. Behind her outgoing personality was someone who cared deeply about those around her and had a gift for making others feel included.

One of Yaretzi's greatest passions was soccer.

She represented Habersham Central as a member of the varsity soccer team and also played with LSA in Gainesville. Her love for the sport was another reflection of the way she approached life—enthusiastically and wholeheartedly.

Sunday's gathering is intended to be more than a time of mourning. Yaretzi's family hopes it will also be an opportunity for the people who knew and loved her to tell stories, remember her laughter and celebrate the moments they were fortunate enough to share with her.

Friends, teammates and community members are also being invited to contribute photographs for a memorial tribute being prepared in Yaretzi's honor.

Yaretzi was born October 27, 2010, in Hall County. She is survived by her parents, Claudia and Scott Torres and Miguel Romero; siblings Darla Torres, Scotty Torres and Riley Torres; her grandparents; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her cousin, Cristian Gaona.

Additional service arrangements will be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, in Demorest.

For now, a community that watched Yaretzi play, learn, laugh and grow will gather together at the place where so many Habersham students have been cheered on through the years.

And on August 23, they'll wear pink and cheer for Yaretzi.

Celebration of Life for Yaretzi Torres is Sunday, August 23 at 6 p.m. in the Raider Stadium. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink in Yaretzi's honor.
