Habersham County Earns Financial Reporting Award for Ninth Consecutive Year

Habersham County has received national recognition for its financial reporting for the ninth consecutive year.

The Government Finance Officers Association awarded the county its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for Habersham County’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2025.

The award recognizes state and local governments whose financial reports meet standards established by the GFOA for transparency and full disclosure of financial information.

Habersham County’s report was reviewed by an impartial panel and determined to meet the standards of the association’s Certificate of Achievement Program. According to the GFOA, the certificate is its highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

“We are extremely proud of our Finance Department for earning this recognition for the ninth year in a row,” County Manager Tim Sims said. “This award reflects the department’s continued dedication to accuracy, transparency and responsible financial management.”

The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement Program in 1945 to encourage state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles and produce financial reports designed to clearly communicate financial information to residents and other users.

The association represents more than 28,000 government finance professionals and provides best practices, professional development, resources and research related to government finance.
