Habersham County has officially named Kiani Holden as the county’s new Finance Director, promoting a longtime employee whose career with the county spans more than a decade.
A lifelong Habersham County resident, Holden graduated from Habersham Central High School in 2007 and now lives in Demorest with her husband and two daughters.
Holden first joined Habersham County in October 2013 as an Administrative Assistant with the Habersham County Fire Department while pursuing her associate’s degree in accounting. In 2015, she advanced to the role of Human Resources Payroll Specialist and Administrative Assistant, where she discovered a passion for serving county employees and the community.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in accounting, Holden moved to the county’s Finance Department in July 2016. As a Finance Specialist, she managed purchasing and grant responsibilities while assisting with a variety of accounting functions.
Over the years, Holden has also stepped into multiple leadership roles during times of transition, including serving as Interim Human Resources Director and Interim Finance Director.
She has served as Interim Finance Director since December 2024, following the transition of Tim Sims from Chief Financial Officer to County Manager.
“Kiani has worked extremely hard to earn this opportunity, and I am very confident in her ability to lead our Finance Department,” said County Manager Tim Sims. “I have had the privilege of working alongside her for many years and have seen firsthand her dedication to this county and our community. She knows our people, understands the needs of Habersham County, and truly wants to make a difference. We are excited to see her continue serving Habersham County in this new role.”
County officials said Holden’s extensive experience, leadership, and commitment to public service position her well as she officially takes on the role of Finance Director.
