Banks County Middle School Named Chuck Butler Principal 2026-2027

Banks County Schools has announced that Chuck Butler has been named the next principal of Banks County Middle School (BCMS). Butler will assume the role for the 2026–2027 school year, succeeding Dr. Kaila Steele, who has been appointed Chief Learning and Development Officer at Mountain Education High School.

Butler has served as assistant principal at BCMS for the past seven years and brings extensive experience and familiarity with the school community. In addition to his administrative role, he has also served as head varsity boys’ basketball coach at Banks County High School for the past two seasons.

“I’m excited to serve as principal at BCMS,” Butler said. “The school means a lot to me, and I look forward to continuing our work with staff and students.”

Banks County Middle School has experienced strong academic and extracurricular success in recent years, and Butler said he is committed to building upon that momentum while focusing on continuous improvement.

“We have been so proud of the academic and extracurricular success our school has had over the past few years,” he said. “BCMS has a very strong culture in place. We want to continue the great work already happening while always striving to improve and push ourselves to be even better.”

Butler said his leadership philosophy centers on encouraging excellence and supporting both students and staff in reaching their full potential.

“My philosophy is to strive for success,” Butler said. “I’m inspired by John Wooden’s view that success is doing your best to be your best. That’s the standard I hold for myself and for BCMS.”

He added that establishing clear goals and maintaining a strong focus on the student experience will be key priorities moving forward.
