White County Earns Financial Reporting Award for 17th Consecutive Year

White County has earned national recognition for its financial reporting for the 17th consecutive year.

The Government Finance Officers Association awarded the county its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for White County’s Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

The award recognizes state and local governments whose financial reports meet standards for transparency, accountability and full disclosure of financial information.

White County has now received the recognition for 17 straight years.

The county credited its Finance Department, led by Finance Director Jodi Ligon, along with department heads, elected officials and other county staff for helping maintain the reporting standards required for the award.

The Finance Department also includes Accountant Lisa Pirkle, Accounting Coordinator Jordan Fiveash and Accounting Assistant Misti Lane.

Established in 1945, the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program encourages state and local governments to prepare financial reports that go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles.

The program evaluates whether financial reports provide sufficient information for residents and other users to assess a government’s financial position.

White County officials said receiving the award for a 17th consecutive year reflects the county’s continued emphasis on providing accurate, accessible and comprehensive financial information to the public.
