Third Annual Soque River Trophy Fly-Fishing Event Brings Community Together to Protect a Local Treasure

Some of Northeast Georgia’s most sought-after private trout waters will take center stage this September as the Soque River Watershed Association hosts its Third Annual Soque River Private Water Trophy Fly-Fishing Event.

The special evening will offer unforgettable experiences while raising money to protect the Soque River watershed. The event will be held Thursday, September 24, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will feature live and silent auctions offering a variety of guided fly-fishing trips, along with other unique experiences.

Cocktails and appetizers begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a prime rib dinner at 6 p.m.

At the heart of the evening will be opportunities to bid on 10 guided fishing trips that provide access to private waters not ordinarily available to the public. Seven of the 10 trips currently include overnight stays at Ariel Mountain Springs or Panther Creek Farms, creating an even more memorable experience for participants.

Trips will be available for anglers of every skill level—from those picking up a fly rod for the first time to experienced anglers seeking the thrill of trophy trout fishing.

Knowledgeable guides will accompany participants, helping create an enjoyable outing for everyone interested in experiencing the sport of fly-fishing and the natural beauty of the Soque River.

The annual event combines the area’s reputation for exceptional trout fishing with a larger purpose: protecting a natural resource that is an important part of Habersham County’s environment, economy and identity.

All proceeds from the event will support the Soque River watershed and the continued work of the Soque River Watershed Association.
