The tradition continues - Mardi Gras in Clarkesville

By: Nora Almazan

Clarkesville will once again bring the spirit of New Orleans to Northeast Georgia as Mardi Gras in Clarkesville returns on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

The celebration will be held at North Georgia Technical College’s Industrial Technology Event Center, offering guests an evening filled with food, music, and community pride.

This annual Mardi Gras celebration is more than just a night of festivities—it is a key fundraiser supporting the Clarkesville Main Street Facade and Sign Grant Program, which works to preserve and enhance the charm of downtown Clarkesville.

Guests attending the event can expect a full New Orleans–style experience, beginning with a delicious Cajun-inspired dinner. The evening will also feature a live DJ, dancing, a photo booth, raffle prizes, and a live auction. One of the most anticipated moments of the night will be the traditional crowning of the Mardi Gras King and Queen.

Each attendee will receive two complimentary beer or wine tickets, adding to the festive atmosphere and allowing guests to relax and enjoy the evening.

Proceeds from Mardi Gras in Clarkesville directly benefit the Main Street Facade and Sign Grant Program, which has made a lasting impact on the downtown area. Since the program’s inception, more than 60 beautification projects have been completed, with over $50,000 in grant funding awarded to local businesses and property owners. These improvements have played a vital role in maintaining Clarkesville’s historic character while encouraging economic growth and community pride.

Organizers say the event is designed to bring people together for a night of fun while investing in the future of downtown Clarkesville.

Mardi Gras in Clarkesville has become a beloved annual tradition, blending celebration with purpose. Community members are encouraged to dress festively, bring friends, and enjoy a night that supports the heart of the city.
