Professional Treble Choir Lux to Perform Free Concert at Piedmont University

An afternoon of professional choral music is coming to Demorest as Lux, Northeast Georgia’s professional treble choir, takes the stage at Piedmont University.

The ensemble will present “The Shape of Time” on Sunday, October 4, at 3 p.m. in the Piedmont University Chapel. The concert is free and open to the community.

Rather than simply presenting a collection of choral works, the program will explore the different ways people experience time—from memories of the past and anticipation of what lies ahead to the cycles and repetitions that shape everyday life.

Lux brings together professional musicians and singers from a variety of backgrounds who share a commitment to creating choral music centered on beauty, hope and connection.

The Northeast Georgia-based ensemble has performed for audiences beyond the local community, with recent appearances at the Georgia American Choral Directors Association Conference, Georgia Music Educators Association Conference and the Southern Region American Choral Directors Association Conference in Memphis, Tennessee.

The choir is directed by Piedmont University alumna Emily Allison, who earned her bachelor's degree from Piedmont in 2003 and Master of Arts in Teaching in 2004, along with Dr. Ashley Conway.

Another Piedmont alumnus, Dr. Benji Stegner, will accompany the ensemble on piano. Stegner graduated from Piedmont in 2011.

The performance is presented by the Piedmont University Conservatory of Music.

Admission is free, although donations supporting the program will be welcomed at the door.
