A Hart County jury has found Jeremy Leonard Green, also known as “Coach Bob,” guilty on all six counts in his criminal trial.
The verdict was returned following jury deliberations in Hart County Superior Court. Green faced multiple felony charges, including rape and child molestation.
Following the guilty verdict, the court sentenced Green to two life sentences plus 90 years in prison, along with a $100,000 fine.
Jeremy 'Bob' Green was found guilty in Hart County Superior Court of Aggravated Child Molestation, Child Molestation, Statutory Rape, Enticing a Child for indecent Purposes, and Sexual Exploitation of a Child for subjecting a female child to years of abuse in Hart County.
The case has drawn significant attention across Northeast Georgia for several years, particularly following the 2021 death of 20-year-old Jennifer Cobb, who had been identified by authorities as a key alleged victim in the investigation.
Prosecutors previously alleged Green met Cobb while working as a gymnastics instructor and engaged in a pattern of grooming behavior that began when she was a minor.
Green was arrested in June 2021. Since that time, the case has proceeded through hearings, motions, and pre-trial proceedings before reaching a jury trial in Hart County this week.
Family members and community members have closely followed the proceedings, and the trial’s outcome marks a significant relief in a case that has impacted the Hartwell community for several years.
Jennifer Cobb's mother, Susan Cobb, said of the trial's outcome, "First we want to give God all the glory for answered prayer. Our daughter Jennifer was more than what was done to her."
Susan described Jennifer as bright, loving, and full of promise. "While nothing can erase the pain our family has endured, today's verdict affirms that the truth matters."
Her family believes Jennifer's voice helped bring darkness into the light, and they hope this outcome gives strength to other survivors to speak up and know they will be heard.
"Nothing will ever undo the harm that was done, and nothing will bring our daughter back," Susan added. "But the jury saw the truth. They listened. They believed the witnesses that were so brave to testify."
Susan hopes this verdict sends a clear message to predators that molestation, sexual grooming, and sexual abuse of innocent children will not be tolerated in our communities. "We are deeply grateful to District Attorney Parks White, Assistant District Attorney Jeff Lee and all the staff, jurors, and judge. Thank you to GBI Agent Katie Walker, who listened to Jennifer, investigated and served the arrest warrants. We want to also thank friends, family, the community and people everywhere who have loved, prayed and supported justice for our beautiful daughter."
For Susan, it doesn't end here. She will continue to fight for victims of sexual abuse and sexual grooming. "We must come together as communities to protect innocent children from such evil."
