Gainesville Theatre Alliance invites audiences to experience an evening of pure comedic chaos with its production of The Play That Goes Wrong by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields. The Olivier Award-winning comedy runs February 13–21 at Brenau University’s Hosch Theatre, located inside the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts.
An opening night reception, catered by Nothing Bundt Cakes, followed the February 13 premiere performance.
Set on the fictional opening night of the Cornley Drama Society, the play quickly spirals into disaster — in the funniest way possible. The set collapses, actors forget (and sometimes repeat) their lines, props malfunction, and even the “corpse” refuses to cooperate.
What unfolds is a fast-paced farce and affectionate tribute to live theatre, where mistakes become the entertainment. Audiences can expect pratfalls, missed cues, and non-stop laughter in this internationally celebrated production, which promises fun for the entire family.
Gainesville Theatre Alliance is an intercollegiate theatre collaboration between Brenau University and the University of North Georgia, bringing together student performers and production teams from both institutions to create professional-quality theatrical productions for the Northeast Georgia community.
