Helen Oktoberfest to Test Strength at Third Annual Stein Holding Competition
Oktoberfest visitors will have a chance to put their strength — and their ability to hold a beer stein — to the test when Helen hosts its third annual Stein Holding Competition on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The competition will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Helen Festhalle and will feature separate men's and women's categories. Competitors will see who can hold a beer stein the longest.
The competition comes in the middle of Helen's 56th annual Oktoberfest, which runs through Nov. 1. The Helen Chamber of Commerce bills the celebration as the longest-running Oktoberfest in the United States. Oktoberfest is held nightly during October, with Saturdays among the longest festival days at the Festhalle, running from 1 to 11 p.m.
Visitors on Oct. 10 will also have plenty of entertainment beyond the competition. The Alex Meixner Band and Aaron Dussing Band are scheduled to perform during the Oct. 5-11 week as part of the 2026 Oktoberfest music lineup.
The Festhalle celebration features German-style food, including bratwurst and other sausages, sauerkraut, red cabbage and German potato salad, along with German and domestic beer and other beverages. Live music, dancing and traditional Oktoberfest entertainment are also part of the celebration.
Saturday admission is currently listed at $15 for adults and $7 for children ages 6-12, with children under 6 admitted free. Active and retired military members receive free admission with a military ID, while veterans receive a discount. Admission prices are
subject to change.
The Helen Festhalle is located at 1074 Edelweiss Strasse in Helen. Individual Oktoberfest tickets are not sold in advance and can be purchased at the door.
