Demorest Reschedules Eminent Domain Public Hearing to Sept. 16

A public hearing concerning a proposed eminent domain proceeding by the City of Demorest has been rescheduled.

The hearing, originally scheduled for September 1 at 7 p.m., will now be held Wednesday, September 16, at 6 p.m. in the Demorest City Council Chambers at 250 Alabama Street.

The hearing concerns a proposal to use eminent domain as part of an effort to expand the City of Demorest’s water system.

According to the city's public notice, the property involved is identified as Parcels 100D 006 and 100D 006A and is located at the end of River Street, approximately 430 feet beyond its intersection with Hickory Nut Mountain Road in Tallulah Falls.

The Demorest City Council will hear public input regarding the proposed proceeding before considering the matter.

The new meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 at 6 p.m. at Demorest City Council Chambers, 250 Alabama Street, Demorest.

The previously announced September 1 hearing will not take place as scheduled.
