Clarkesville First Methodist Church invites the community to join them for a meaningful and joy-filled Holy Week with a variety of services and family activities designed to celebrate the Easter season.
Located at 1087 Washington Street in Clarkesville, the church will begin its Holy Week observances with a special children’s event on Saturday, March 28, called “Easter Egg-Scape.” The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall and is open to families and children of all ages. The morning promises fun activities, fellowship, and an opportunity for children to celebrate the excitement of Easter in a welcoming environment.
Holy Week continues on Palm Sunday, March 29, with a single combined worship service at 10:00 a.m. This service commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem and marks the beginning of the most sacred week in the Christian calendar.
On Thursday, April 2, the church will hold a Maundy Thursday Service at 7:00 p.m. in The Connection Building. Maundy Thursday traditionally reflects on the Last Supper and the commandment Jesus gave His disciples to love one another. The service will offer a time of reflection, worship, and remembrance.
The observance of Good Friday on April 3 will include two opportunities for participation. A community Crosswalk will begin at 10:30 a.m., allowing participants to walk together in remembrance of Christ’s journey to the cross. Later that evening, a Good Friday Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, offering a solemn time of worship and reflection on the sacrifice of Christ.
Easter Sunday celebrations on April 5 will begin early with a Sunrise Service at 7:00 a.m. at the Gazebo on the Clarkesville Square. This outdoor gathering provides a beautiful setting to celebrate the resurrection at daybreak. Bring a chair and a jacket or blanket.
Additional Easter worship services will be held at 9:00 a.m. in The Connection Building and 11:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary, providing multiple opportunities for the community to gather in celebration.
Clarkesville First Methodist Church welcomes all members of the community to participate in any or all of the Holy Week events. These services and activities are designed to provide moments of joy, reflection, and spiritual renewal during one of the most important seasons of the Christian faith.
