On January 28, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Banks County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Banks County School System of a bomb threat received via voicemail. The message did not specify a particular school.
Out of an abundance of caution, and despite schools not being in session due to lingering winter weather conditions, law enforcement initiated a coordinated response. Multiple agencies assisted in the operation, including bomb detection K-9 units from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Schools Police Department, and the Roswell Police Department.
A thorough search was conducted at all schools within the Banks County School System. No suspicious devices or items were found.
The investigation remains active and is being led by the Banks County Sheriff’s Office in coordination with the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency.
The safety and security of our students, staff, and community remain our highest priority. We appreciate the cooperation and support of the school system and our partner agencies as this investigation continues.
