Community members are invited to take the plunge for a good cause at the 30th Annual Polar Bear Plunge & Winter Festival on Saturday, March 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Lake Hartwell. The event raises funds and awareness for the Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence.
The annual tradition brings together brave participants willing to leap into the icy waters of Lake Hartwell, along with families and supporters who come to enjoy a full day of entertainment, food, and activities.
Throughout the day, attendees can watch daring plungers take the chilly dive while competing for prizes including Best Costume and Best Splash. Organizers say the event has become a beloved community celebration that combines fun with a meaningful cause.
The Winter Festival will also feature live music, a silent auction, a crowd-favorite chili cookoff, and a variety of food and craft vendors. A special kids’ area will offer activities designed to keep younger attendees entertained.
Whether participants take the plunge, sample chili, browse local vendors, or simply enjoy the festive atmosphere, every part of the event helps support services for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.
Organizers encourage everyone to bundle up, bring friends and family, and help celebrate 30 years of plunging for a purpose while supporting an important mission in Northeast Georgia.
