Among the more noteworthy items: the college alleges that Mayor Rick Austin and the council at the time knowingly overbilled the college for water usage which it says is a violation of Racketeering laws. That city police chief Robin Krockum is guilty of extortion for threatening college police with charges of impersonating an officer. And that Austin, a tenured professor at the college, used his position to carry out a personal vendetta against the college. In total, the college is asking for damages in a jury trial. And, the college seeks removal of Austin from his position of mayor and his termination from Piedmont college via a breach of contract ruling.
Habersham Covid cases are up another 20% from this time last week. The seven day rolling average from the John Hopkins web page shows more than 36 positives.
