Habersham Co. - The driver and passenger involved in the Friday morning wreck are now facing charges.
The two individuals were sent to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident happened on Hwy 105 between Ga. Hwy 115 and 17 around 9:15 a.m. Friday.
The driver has since been identified as Darrell Wheeler and his passenger was Jess Chitwood.
Georgia State Patrol (GSP) charged Wheeler in connection to the wreck with a DUI and failure to maintain lane. Both are facing charges but details of those charges have yet been released.
According to Emergency Services Director Chad Black, “A Jeep that was towing a trailer loaded with wood overturned, with two occupants, one was trapped and one had extricated himself prior to Emergency Services arrival.”
Units extricated the driver and he was then transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville by Air Life 2 helicopter.
The other patient was transported by Habersham Emergency Services to Habersham County Medical Center with minor injuries.
GSP and Habersham County Sheriff’s Office are on scene and handling the investigation into the accident.
