CLARKESVILLE - (UPDATE) Sheriff Joey Terrell took to Facebook to give Habersham residents an update on the vehicle break ins that happened Thursday, August 29. Below is his statement:
"The images above are from a security camera located at one of the residences in Woodcrest Subdivision. They depict one of the suspects involved in Thursday morning’s rash of thefts.
As of Thursday evening, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigators, working in conjunction with the Dekalb Police Department, have identified and detained a juvenile subject believed to be involved in the Woodcrest Subdivision thefts. Investigators have gathered information indicating that the suspects who committed these crimes are gang affiliated and were also involved in an armed robbery that same morning in Dekalb County. These groups of gang affiliates are traveling outside of Dekalb County and selecting remote locations to commit crimes.
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office encourages all citizens to be vigilant in securing their vehicles and to refrain from leaving any items of value in their vehicle."
