Temporary Closure of the Senior Citizen and Wellness Center

PRESS RELEASE - Out of an abundance of caution, and because the senior population seems to be one of the groups most susceptible to the COVID-19 virus Habersham County Board of Commissioners has taken the pro-active step of temporarily closing the Senior Center, Senior Wellness Center, and in-house programs at this time.

We will close all activities (Congregate and Wellness) effective March 16 through April 3. Our hope is that this will allow the instances of COVID-19 virus to diminish in number, which should reduce exposure to this vulnerable population. Meals on Wheels will operate on a normal schedule.

Over the next few weeks, we will re-evaluate this decision as the situation unfolds. During this time, volunteers and staff will still distribute meals to clients who are currently receiving this service.
Staff will work to assist clients with grocery, banking, bill pay, medical, and medication transportation needs as necessary.
