PRESS RELEASE - UPDATE Feb. 26, 2020 - Hall County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have received notification that the human remains discovered in the Flowery Branch area on Dec. 12, 2019, are those of a missing Flowery Branch man.
Personnel at the GBI Crime Lab identified the skeletal remains as Johnny Edgar Vickers. Sheriff’s Office Investigators have notified Vickers’ family.
On April 9, 2018, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call reporting Vickers’ disappearance. An immediate family member of Vickers, 42 when he was last seen, told Deputies that Vickers had been missing since March 5, 2018.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives followed several leads in the case but found no sign of Vickers.
Because of the condition of the remains, the crime lab was unable to determine the cause of death.
Investigators found no indication of foul play in the case.
ORIGINAL RELEASE Dec. 12, 2019 - The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after human skeletal remains were discovered in the Flowery Branch area on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2019.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the initial call at approximately 1:15 p.m. on property near the intersection of Trudy Drive and Lights Ferry Road. Two deer hunters who were authorized to hunt on the land discovered the remains and called 911.
Sheriff’s Office investigators also responded and processed the scene. Although detectives are in the early stages of the investigation, they have good leads as to the identity of the deceased.
The skeletal remains have been transported to the GBI Crime Lab, and Investigators have cleared the scene.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office will release further details as they’re confirmed by the investigation.
