Hall Co. - The Hall County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is investigating a shooting that injured a man on Sunday evening, October 27.
Sheriff’s Deputies along with Gainesville Police, Hall County Fire Services and the Gainesville Fire Department responded to the incident at approximately 10 p.m. in the area of GA 13/Atlanta
Highway and Westside Drive. The male victim suffered a single gunshot wound to his jaw at a homeless encampment in the area.
Bystanders helped the victim to a gas station at the corner of Pearl Nix Parkway and GA 369/Browns Bridge Road where a call was placed to 911. The victim was transported by fire
services to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment.
The Sheriff’s Office investigation is active and in its initial stages. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
UPDATE: Hall County Sheriff’s Deputies have located and detained a suspect in connection with last night’s shooting off of Westside Drive. The male suspect was taken into custody before 11 a.m. today.
The male victim, in his 40s, remains at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. We don’t have an update on his condition at this time.
