UPDATED: Rep. Terry Rogers Out, Former Habersham County Commission Chairman Looking at Spot

Habersham Co. - Representative Terry Rogers announced that he will not be seeking re-election for the Ga House of Representatives after almost 10 years of service.

Former Habersham County Commission Chairman Victor Anderson says he is considering running for the spot.

"With the announcement from my good friend Terry Rogers that he will not seek re-election, I find myself strongly considering running for the District 10 Representative seat," Anderson says. "For many years, I have had a desire to serve my family, friends & neighbors in Habersham & White counties in this capacity."

However, Anderson has not officially put his name in the ring for the seat.

"While I had not anticipated the opportunity this soon, I realize that God opens doors when they need opening not when it's convenient for us," Anderson says. "Over the next couple of days, Kim, myself & our family will be praying & evaluating this option. Please keep us in your prayers."

UPDATED 02/20/2020:

Earlier this week, Victor Anderson made his official announcement to run for the seat Representative Terry Rogers announced he would be vacating.

Below is Anderson's announcement:

With the announcement by Representative Terry Rogers not to seek re-election, I have decided to run for the District 10 seat in the Georgia House.  Terry has served the citizens of Habersham and White counties with integrity and dedication for almost 10 years.  He is a friend and mentor whose leadership continues to be an asset to Northeast Georgia.

When I decided not to seek re-election for the District 3 County Commission seat two years ago, I knew in my heart it would be temporary.  I have long desired to serve my family, friends and neighbors in Habersham and White counties.  I believe it is my duty and my time to help protect our conservative values.

I am a Constitutional Conservative, strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, pro-life and believe in limited government.  I am a Christian and believe that our nation and laws are rooted in God’s Commandments.

Governor Kemp has called for making Georgia not only the Best State for Business but the Best State for Small Business.  As a small business owner, I want to help champion this cause.  We need to continue fully funding our education system and return more control to local Boards who understand the needs of the community.  Healthcare, agriculture, tourism and transportation are areas of common concern to all our communities.  My experience in business, county leadership, volunteering and networking make me uniquely qualified to be the best choice to represent the citizens of Habersham and White counties.

As your Representative, I will listen to your needs and concerns, work to protect our way of life and seek ways to advance our economy while limiting government growth and regulation.

Kim and I ask for your support, your vote and most importantly, your prayers in this election and beyond.  May God bless you all!
