Habersham Co. - The City of Baldwin will not be holding elections in November.
This decision comes after Ray Holcomb removed his name from the ballot for Baldwin City Council Post 3. He was running against Stephanie Almagno.
Holcomb spoke to WCHM about his decision to remove himself from the running, saying “some things have come up since qualifying, health issues and personal things.” He continues saying he didn’t feel like he could devote his time the way he thought he should for the job.
When asked if he would run at a later election, Holcomb said “I’ll cross that bridge when it gets to it but not at the present time.”
Habersham County Elections Supervisor/Chief Registrar Laurel Ellison says this withdrawal means Baldwin no longer needs to hold elections. Ellison makes note the Cornelia and Demorest will be the only cities to hold elections on November 5.
