Police Arrest Wanted Suspect Who Fled on Foot After Crash

You can run but you can't hide.

Those words rang true on Thursday after police captured and arrested a man who fled on foot after crashing his vehicle during a chase in Stephens County.

The search for Calvin Martin White, 32, of Missouri actually began the day before on Wednesday when the Motor Carrier Division chased him from Habersham County into neighboring Stephens County.

White was driving a truck towing a skid-steer loader when he lost control, ran off the shoulder and crashed into nearby woods. That's when White, who is wanted on four felony charges in Missouri, jumped out and ran from authorities.

K-9s from the Sheriff's Office and Lee Arrendale State Prison canvassed the wooded area with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol air support but called off the search after being unable to locate White.

White eluded authorities throughout the evening but was eventually captured the next morning. He faces numerous traffic-related charges in Habersham and Stephens counties.
