Cornelia, GA - The city commission of Cornelia voted unanimously in favor of a site plan for multi-family development at 400 Stonecypher Street, requested by Habersham 1, LLC. The group is currently in negotiations to purchase the land dependent on this vote. With city commission support to move forward, the premises, which now feature 8 larger multi-family units, will eventually hold144 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments. Ward 4 Commissioner, Tony Clark, made sure to ask about this possibly being low income housing, and the answer was that all of these units will be market rate. Andy Ewing, speaking on behalf of the development group, also states that the premises will feature on-site laundry, a pool, clubhouse, and 24/7 on-site staffing. This approval makes way for the purchase of the land to move forward, and for renderings of the site to be drawn up in the coming months.
