Mt. Airy Wreck Suspected To Be Result Of Road Rage

Habersham Co. - An accident in Mt. Airy is suspected to be the result of road rage between two vehicles.

On Saturday, Jan. 25, emergency personnel was called out to GA 365 South near Cody Road in response to an overturned vehicle.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m.

"A 2003 Ford Explorer was traveling south on GA 365 in the left lane," says Assistant Post Commander of GSP Post 7 Toccoa, Casey Coffee. "The Ford Explorer entered the median and the driver lost control. After traveling into the median, the driver of the Ford over-corrected and traveled across the southbound lanes to the west shoulder where it struck a guardrail."

The Ford Explorer then overturned and came to a final rest on the west shoulder.

"The crash is a result of a possible road rage incident with a small black car that left the scene," Coffee says.

The driver of the Explorer, Gailand Bay, 72, of Tocco, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.

After being extricated from the vehicle, the front passenger, Deborah Parker, 65, of Toccoa, was also transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.
