Habersham Co. - 63-year-old Billy Ernest Craven of Clarkesville was taken to North Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) following a single-vehicle wreck at approximately 8:36 a.m.
Craven was driving a 2006 Lexus GS south on GA 365 and Hazel Creek Road when he failed to maintain the lane, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP). He proceeded to travel off the roadway, striking a sign and guardrail before traveling into the wooded area below.
Craven struck several trees and his vehicle proceeded to overturn where it came to a final resting place. Craven was trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated by emergency personnel.
A witness at the accident states that Craven passed him “at a high rate of speed and appeared to be having a medical emergency.”
Craven is reported by GSP to have visible injuries, but the specifics are unknown.
