The Georgia Forestry Commission is conducting a controlled burn on 157 acres today in the Preacher Campbell Road area off Ga. 17 North outside Clarkesville.
Additionally, the Chattooga River Ranger District of the USDA Forest Service is conducting a 150-acre burn nine miles west of Clayton near the intersection of U.S. 76 and Ga. 197. Objectives for prescribed burns include reducing hazardous fuels, healthy forest restoration, and wildlife habitat improvement.
Smoke may be visible in the affected areas, but crews will be in place to ensure the burn areas remain contained.
