Habersham, Co. – Missing man involved in death investigation identified by Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

In July 2019, Habersham County Sheriff’s Department was searching for a missing Habersham man.

In the post, Terrell stated that 59-year-old, Stanley Wooten was reported to be missing and had not been heard from by family in several months. It was also reported that Stanley was homeless but was staying in the area of Cannon Bridge Rd and Old Athens Hwy.

Recently after that, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Department (HCSO) posted that HCSO along with the GBI conducted a death investigation on Hwy 105 just north of Old Athens Hwy.

The post continued, stating that "Skeletal remains were located at a makeshift campsite. It appears that there are no immediate signs of foul play.”

According to Deputy Coroner Kenneth Franklin, on Thursday, April 9, the GBI confirmed that the DNA results were from Stanley Wooten whose body was found at the campsite in July.

"The body had been deceased for a period of time that we don't have a cause of death, we don't have a manner of death, it's undetermined," Franklin tells WCHM.
