Lula Woman Involved in Fatal Banks County Wreck

A vehicle accident reported to Banks County dispatchers at 10:56 p.m. on Sunday night claimed the wreck of a young woman from Northeast Georgia.

Courtney Mae Flanagan, 21, of Lula was ejected from the 2004 Toyota Corolla she was driving after the Georgia State Patrol says she failed to negotiate a left-hand turn and lost control. The car went off the west shoulder of the roadway along Old Highway 441 North, nearly a half-mile north of Simmons Road in Baldwin.

The Banks County Coroner's Office is still investigating the incident but it was determined that Flanagan was not wearing a seatbelt before being thrown from the vehicle.

Units cleared the scene around 2 a.m. Monday morning.

Funeral services for Flanagan will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at The Grove. Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville is in charge of arrangements.
