Local Meetings Amid COVID-19

Habersham - With Habersham County having its first confirmed COVID-19 case, the county and its cities are taking preventative measures when it comes to their monthly meetings.

The City of Demorest has announced that in order to comply with Governor Brian Kemp’s Coronavirus prevention guidelines, the upcoming Tuesday, March 31, Demorest City Council meeting will be live-streamed.

The meeting is set to be streamed at 6 p.m. via ZOOM, a streaming platform for groups.

The link will be available on the City of Demorest’s Facebook page prior to the meeting. Citizens will have the opportunity to participate in the meeting and submit comments and questions by the following methods:

The county announced earlier this week that all Board of Commissioners meetings will be held via teleconference through the April 20, Regular Commission Meeting.

The April City of Cornelia Commission meeting has been postponed to Tuesday, April 21, at 6 p.m. in the conference room in City Hall, 181 Larkin St.

"For public & employee safety, we will close the meeting and have the meeting online," according to the city's website. The link to the ZOOM meeting can be found here.

Baldwin City Council held a meeting on Monday, March 23. The media was able to call into the meeting to adhere to social distancing rules. Mayor Joe Elam says the city is working on how to proceed with future meetings.

No information regarding meetings has been released by the City of Clarkesville.
