Kona Throwing 'Ice Parties' in Habersham

Easing coronavirus restrictions, businesses reopening and some lovely weather this weekend may present a great opportunity for people to get out and about. Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid-to-high 80s today and for those in Habersham County looking to beat the heat, local resident John Krippner is driving his Kona Ice truck to the rescue.

They are called ice parties and the first chance to grab one of their shaved ice creations will be today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot beside the Cornelia Fire Department (site of the old K-Mart).

The truck will then move to Clarkesville where it will be located in the old Fred's parking lot from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Krippner said that twenty percent of all proceeds will go back into the community as the plan is to donate the money to a non-profit organization.

Customers can enjoy the experience with ease knowing that Kona is following all state coronavirus guidelines and even taking a few extra precautions, such as their "Konafication" process that is designed so the server's hands never come into contact with your treat.

"We are grateful that our product and delivery system allow us to offer fun and flavor in a safe, sanitary, closely controlled environment," Krippner said.
