Karen Handel Endorses Doug Collins’ Senate Bid

ROSWELL (PRESS RELEASE) – Former and future Representative Karen Handel today endorsed Doug Collins’ U.S. Senate bid, calling him “the best person to represent our Georgia values.”

In a statement, Handel said, “I am proud to support Doug Collins for U.S. Senate.  He is the best person to represent our Georgia values.  He’s been on the front lines of fighting for Georgians as a State Representative and in Congress.  He cares deeply for our state and our nation.  He stood with me when others would not in my own fight against Planned Parenthood, and I worked side-by-side with Doug to pass important pro-life legislation. Most importantly, I trust Doug — to stand up for life, to stand with our President, and to stand for our Georgia values."

In 2017, Karen won an 18-way special election for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, defeating Jon Ossoff in the run-off in the most expensive congressional race in U.S. history. Karen was sworn in as Georgia’s first Republican woman ever elected to Congress.  Karen quickly distinguished herself as one of the hardest working members of the House, serving on the Judiciary and the Education and the Workforce Committees, as well as the bicameral Joint Economic Committee.

During her time in Congress, Karen focused on tackling difficult issues like human trafficking and opioid addiction, successfully working for the passage of H.R. 1865, which shut down scores of sex trafficking websites and gave our law enforcement more tools to investigate, arrest and prosecute traffickers. Karen also worked with President Trump and Republican leaders in Congress to pass the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act , the largest tax cuts in decades.

Karen’s book “Planned Bullyhood” exposed Planned Parenthood and its deep ties to the Democrat Party. In Congress, Karen led in passing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, supported the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, and ensured “Hyde Amendment” protections remained in place to prevent taxpayer dollars from being used to pay for abortions.

“I could not be more excited and humbled to have the support of Karen Handel,” Doug said. “She is a proven leader and a trusted friend that has led the fight for conservative values not only here in Georgia as a statewide elected official, but in Congress fighting for our values and this President.  I look forward to having her back in Congress and being able to partner with her from the Senate to keep our conservative movement growing to help the people of Georgia.”
