Habersham Sheriff's Department Arrest Area Man on Drug Charges Following Reports of Shots Fired.

A Clayton man is in the Habersham detention center without bond after being arrested at a Hollywood residence Sunday morning on a meth trafficking charge. Sheriff's lieutenant Matthew Wurtz says 38 year old James Dodderidge got into an argument with a Lakemont man who was angry enough to fire two shotgun blasts in the air before he drove off. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and allegedly found Dodderidge with three ounces of meth - enough to be charged with trafficking. The police reports add that Dodderidge and the Lakemont man, who was later picked up on a DUI charge, were partying at the Hollywood residence whose owners were out of town. Apparently, Dodderidge was doing remodeling work in the owners’ absence.

A light night at the city of Baldwin meeting resulted in a council vote to build a new public utility building and finance a new water transmission line. Both projects have been in the works for a while and the $860,000 cost to do both will be part of a bond refinancing. A partnership with Rabun county was approved to share a high-tech trailer designed to aid law enforcement. Cleanup day in Baldwin is the week of April 25th which is the annual opportunity to get your furniture properly disposed of.
